What is eyelid surgery?
Cosmetic eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is a cosmetic surgical procedure to enhance the appearance of the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both.
These conditions usually appear as part of the natural aging process, or heredity. When it is the result of heredity, individuals as young as their 20's or 30's may achieve a noticable improvement in the appearance of their eyes through eyelid surgery. Eyelid surgery removes excess skin, eliminates puffiness and firms the area surrounding the eye giving you a more rested and alert look.
If only excess fat is present in the lower lids, it can be removed through a small incision inside the lower lid with no external incision or scar (transconjunctival blepharoplasty).
Contact lenses can be worn when comfortable.
What is a facelift?
A facelift is a surgical procedure to improve visible signs of aging in the lower face, neck and jowl areas.
As a restorative surgery, a facelift does not change your fundamental appearance and cannot stop the aging process. Although you will continue to age naturally, aging will progress from the more youthful version of yourself that has been restored by a facelift.
What is a forehead lift?
A forehead lift is a cosmetic surgery procedure that improves the appearance of the facial region between the upper eyelids and the scalp, extending to the temples.
Brow lift surgery is performed through multiple small incisions hidden within the hairline. When there is significant excess skin in the forehead, an alternate method using a wider incision across the top of the scalp may be recommended.
Facial fillers are a safe, natural, and effective way to restore volume and fullness to the skin and to correct moderate to severe wrinkles and folds.
If you want to enjoy a smoother, more youthful appearance without surgical correction, facial fillers may be for you. Facial fillers are not permanent and can last upwards of about six months per treatment. You do not qualify as a candidate if you currently use drugs that thin your blood or prevent clotting such as aspirin and ibuprofen, or if you are pregnant, breast-feeding or under the age of 18.
It is performed in the office during a regularly scheduled appointment under local anesthesia. The procedure can take from 30 to 45 minutes. The procedure is simple and convenient and the results are practically instantaneous. The desired product is injected directly into the skin in tiny amounts by an ultrafine needle with little or no discomfort.
After your filler treatment, you may have temporary injection site reactions such as swelling, pain/tenderness and redness. These symptoms are almost always mild and in most cases resolve within 7 days.
Botox is a concept in treating facial wrinkles in the forehead, between the eyes, and in the "crows feet" areas. Botulinum toxin, or Botox, works by relaxing the patient's muscles used for facial expression. Once the muscles are relaxed, the pull of the muscles reduces and the overlying skin flattens.
Injection of this material into the small muscles between the brows, in the forehead, and at the corners of the eyes causes the treated muscles to temporarily stop functioning. This paralysis is temporary and reinjection is necessary within 3-6 months.
Botox is always freshly prepared on the day of injection. Using a very tiny needle, small amounts of Botox are injected into the muscles to be relaxed. Depending on the areas being treated, 5-15 needle pricks (or more) may be required. Pain and discomfort are minimal and last only a few seconds.
Cosmetic surgery of the nose, or rhinoplasty, is a procedure to improve the appearance and contours of the nose.
If you have an abnormal or misshaped appearance of the nose as a result of birth defects, injury, or disease.
If you have a nose that you feel is unattractive or does not "fit" with other facial features.
If you have a personal desire to improve or change the appearance of your nose, rhinoplasty is best performed when facial growth is complete beginning around age 15.
The rhinoplasty procedure is done on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia.
The skin of the nose is separated from its supporting bone and cartilage framework, which is then sculpted by the surgeon to the desired shape.
Most plastic surgeons perform rhinoplasty from within the nose, making the incision inside the nostrils.
The patient goes home with an external cast or splint placed over the nose. The nose may be packed for 24-48 hours. The cast or splint is usually removed in one week.
Initial discomfort is effectively minimized with oral medication.
Most of the swelling and bruising subsides progressively over 2-4 weeks.
External sutures (if any were used) are usually removed in 4-6 days. Internal sutures dissolve by design.
Semifinal result is evident in approximately 3 months. The final result is evident in 12-14 months.
